What to do if my tire blowout while driving?

February 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

While driving your car, if you experience a loss of balance, with the car swerving to one side, there could be loss of your tire pressure or a blow-out. At this time you need to keep calm and keep your car in a balanced position by maneuvering your steering wheel. You are strictly advised not to panic, or slam on to the brakes. You should also not remove your foot from the accelerator, for if you do either of them, you may lose the complete control of your car.

There are two very important things to know when you experience a blow-out:

1.Your instinct may prompt you to slam on the brakes. You should never do this, and it is the worst mistake that you can do. You are liable to lose the control of the car completely.

2. You should not remove your foot from the accelerator, there-by trying to reduce the speed of the car. This is the second worst mistake that you can do, for this will cause the weight to be transferred from the rear tires to the front ones. With a flat tyre this will cause your vehicle to go out of control.

In case of a blow-out, you are advised to do the following:

1.You should gradually release the accelerator, bringing down the speed of the car gradually.

2.By maneuvering your steering wheel regain the control of your car. You need to steer the car slowly to the point where you want to go.
